DART- DeSoto - Arcadia Regional Transit

Deviated fixed - route service providing one route in and around the City of Arcadia. Service is available Monday through Saturday, 7:00 am - 7:00 pm.

DART is Arcadia’s own public transit system, providing inexpensive transportation to jobs, shopping, medical, and other services throughout the day. The service operates Monday through Saturday, beginning at 7:00 am, and all fares are suspended until further notice. The service is also a flag system, which means that it can make pick-ups and drop-offs at any point along its route. For more information, contact DART at 800-694-6566 .

DART “Rules of the Road”

  • No smoking
  • No open food or drink containers on the bus
  • No trash on the bus or at bus stops
  • Only service animals are permitted on the bus
  • Shoes and shirts are required
  • No profanity or loud talking
  • Music should only be heard through earphone

How to ride

Types of Stops

  1. Designated Stops
  2. Flag Stops - DART’s bus service works as a flag stop system. In addition to the designated stops, vehicles may be flagged down at most places along the route.  To flag a bus for a ride, position yourself in a safe and visible area on the correct side of the street.  Make eye contact with the driver and wave your arm up and down.  If safe, the bus operator will stop the vehicle as close to your location as possible.  There is not an additional charge for a flagged stop.
  3. Deviated Stops -  Our riders may request to board or deboard the bus at safe, legal stops up to ¾ of a mile off our published route for those individuals who are functionally unable to board the bus along the regular route. To receive this service you must make a reservation at the DART office (800-694-6566) no later than the end of the business day before the day you wish to travel. Request a deviation for drop-off when you board the bus. Route deviations will be limited to twice per trip to maintain the schedule. Route deviations will be on a 1st come 1st serve basis.

Holidays

Service will not operate the following approved holidays:

  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day

MTM Transit, the DeSoto County Community Transportation Coordinator receives funding from the Florida Department of Transportation through the Central Florida Regional Planning Council to provide the DART service.
